MOYES PLANS FOR THE LONG TERM by tuntu baby
David Moyes wants to promote more youngsters into the first team as he builds his own side at Manchester United.
The
Reds boss has outlined his blueprint for future success as he aims to
turn things around at Old Trafford and plan for the future. After
handing Adnan Januzaj his debut this term, and being impressed with his
work on the wings, Moyes is keen to see others follow his lead.
"I
came here with a long-term job not a short-term one and I actually
think I would be a medium to long-term manager anyway," he reasoned. "My
previous job would show you that history and I think that’s what
Manchester United needed.
"My style is to introduce younger
players into the first team and develop the Academy. Obviously, we have a
great Academy here but we have to make sure we continue to improve
that. So my style is actually everything that Manchester United has ever
been in the past. My plans are there to make sure that, in the future,
we have that level of young player and we can still bring in one or two
to help but it’s a longer period and, personally, I’ve always wanted to
introduce young players and get them in the team when I can."
The
manager feels it would have been a hard campaign this term even without
the need to replace Sir Alex Ferguson because of the make-up of the
squad.
"The fans understand that there has been a change," added
Moyes. "A change from a great manager, one who was here for 26 years,
and it was always going to be difficult. I think, even if Sir Alex was
here this year, it would be difficult for him as well. There is a squad
which is a bit more ageing so I think it would have been a tough season
for whoever was in charge."
